The Medical Department assists consumers with meeting routine current or future health needs.

The services of a nurse practitioner, ophthalmologist, otolaryngologist, and consulting psychiatrist are available on the premises at regularly scheduled intervals. Local medical services include the use of area hospital clinics, emergency rooms and private physicians' offices.

Staff nurses are available during the day and in the evening to administer medications and treatments, provide symptomatic nursing care and first aid, assist with medical appointments and provide instruction in health education.

The Health Education program provides instruction, medication administration, basic first aid, nutrition, disease process, diabetic management and sex education.

Exercise programs are available to all consumers who have been medically cleared and are developed by the recreation therapist. A physical therapist is available for consultation. Individual programs may be developed for consumers with neurological or orthopedic problems.
