The Independent Living program addresses skills daily living, stressing safety and adaptive/tactual methods to increase a person's independence. Instruction takes place in the Training Building and Residence.

SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING EXPERIENCE (SILE)

Consumers who appear to have the potential to live in a setting with supports have the opportunity to learn and practice those skills in on- campus apartments

APARTMENT IN THE MAINSTREAM (AIM)

The AIM community is the training environment through which skills in all areas are addressed: communication, orientation and mobility, vocational services, personal management, laundry, money management, banking and budgeting.

Certain consumers have the opportunity to reside, for a period of 4 to 6 months in one of three studio apartments located in the heart of the local community, approximately two miles from the HKNC training campus.
