CAMPUS LIFE

Location HNKC Campus Who we serve

While receiving training at the Helen Keller National Center, students reside at the Peter J. Salmon Residence in dorm-style rooms. Typically, students share a room and bathroom with a roommate. Three meals a day are provided in the cafeteria. In the residence there are TV lounges, a computer/CCTV room, and a TTY/VP/phone room.

A recreation specialist works with students to create a schedule of on- and off- campus activities during evenings and weekends. This may include shopping, exercise activities, games, community events and trips to New York City. Participation is optional and at the discretion of the student.

Habilitation specialists are on staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

On-and off-campus apartments may be available to students on a short term basis as part of their training program.
